Merry Christmas

The countdown is on. With just a few hours left before Santa makes his big trip, my family continues to prepared for the big day. We have gathered all the presents, wrapped, stuffed, and taped until there was nothing left. And that’s just the presents.

We have also baked, dipped, roasted, and toasted. We have snack to last us into the new year. This is the best part. The kids have helped make sure that all our favorites are represented in the snacks.

S’s favorite is chocolate covered pretzels. She like to help melt the chocolate in our new chocolate pot which you can buy on Amazon by clicking on the picture.   This amazing little pot only takes about ten minutes to heat up the chocolate and has an inner pot that comes out for easy cleaning. S would drop in the chunks of almond bark, melt it, and then dips the pretzels. This handy pot allowed S to be able to make her own pretzels this year.

E like anything chocolate, and this year we tried something new. We used our handy pot from above and melted chocolate. We have dipped oreos before, but this year we dipped mint oreos. They were the perfect.

J likes hopscotch. This peanut buttery, butterscotch goodness has marshmallows is something my mom has made every year for as long as I can remember. If you want to try this goodness, I included the recipe below.

Hopscotch

1/2 cup peanut butter
6 oz package of butterscotch chips

Combine in a microwave proof bowl. Heat in microwave for 1 minute and stir. Continue heating at 30 second intervals, stirring after each time, until everything is melted and combined.

Take out of microwave and add:

2 cups miniature marshmallows
2 cups chow mein noodles

Stir to coat and drop by a spoonful onto wax paper. Chill. When you’re finished, it should look something like this:

With everything going on during the holiday season, it is great to find time to spend time passing down the traditions to the kids. I want my kids to remember all the fun that can be part of this season.

I hope everyone has a magical Christmas, and gets everything they need for Christmas. I have a few things on my Christmas list, and I’m sue Santa will be great to everyone. I’m back to making more snacks.

Merry Christmas!
